5 Natural Tips to Reduce Stretch Marks

Stretch marks occur when the skin is stretched rapidly beyond it’s flexibility, weakening the collagen and causing permanent damage to the skin cells. This happens when a you put on a lot of weight in a short period of time. Initially the marks appear pinkish, but over time they give off a silvery lining appearance which can put a toll on your confidence.

Here are some simple homemade remedies that can help you reduce your stretch marks:

1. Slather cooling aloe vera to enjoy its vitamin E healing properties


Used in many skin products, aloe vera has high Vitamin E content, well-known for it’s healing properties. Break an aloe vera leave and rub the pulp against your skin in a circular motion for 15 minutes. Do this regularly before taking a shower.


2. Whiten your skin with egg whites to mask the stretch marks


Because stretch marks has a silvery appearance, getting a tan would make them more obvious. Therefore the opposite is true, mask your stretch marks by whitening the surrounding skin. Egg whites are effective because they carry sufficient amount of protein which is essential of skin healing. To prepare the mixture, place whites from two eggs in a bowl, then whip well. Apply a layer of this mixture on the skin either with a brush or by using your fingers. Allow the mixture to dry completely for at least 10 minutes. Then, rinse egg whites off your skin using lukewarm water. Follow on with olive oil to moisturize the area. You may use this technique daily for optimum results.

3. Castor oil can help heal the skin


Castor oil is the active ingredient found in many skin healing products. All you have to do is apply the oil and massage gently in a circular motion. Once you’ve done that, wrap the affected skin with clean cloth. Then, with the use of a heating pad, apply heat on the spot for at least 30 minutes. Be sure to use these two techniques daily for excellent results on your skin.

4. Moisturize the skin with cocoa butter for its anti-aging benefits

An exceptional moisturizer, cocoa butter is renowned for its anti-aging properties. It helps repair collagen by promoting circulation. Just take a tablespoon of cocoa butter and massage on the affected portion gently. Do this technique twice a day for at least two months until you notice an improvement on your skin.


5. Rub potato juice to repair and enhance the growth of skin cells

Most people equate potatoes to carbohydrates, but potatoes are loaded with minerals and vitamins. It’s juice is able enhance the growth and repair of skin cells.
